The Midwife’s Confession- a must read

October 15, 2011 | by Great Thoughts | Great Thoughts | 11 Comments

I tripped on this book and loved it!

The Midwife’s Confession by Diane Chamberlain quickly became one of my favorite books of the year. It is the story of two dear friends trying to understand another friend’s suicide. They discover a letter that gives them a hint that there was much more to their friend than they knew.

I don’t often read mysteries and frankly didn’t know this was one when I picked it up. GO READ THIS BOOK- IT TOTALLY ROCKS AND YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!

The writing is lyrical and I literally was shocked when the truth came out at the end of the book- love that!  Some quotes I loved:

“Sometimes it was hard to express how much you loved someone. You said the words, but you could never quite capture the depth of it You could never quite hold someone tightly enough.”

“…one emotion still remained unchecked inside me:fear that I was failing my daughter.”

“Noelle needed ten lives to do all the things she wanted to do.”

“…and I knew I would never have that everhing’s-right-in-my-world feeling again.”

You are going to love this book!

What are you reading and where are you going?

I really liked this book also. It was different from anything I’ve read recently so it was a great change. I also could not put it down. But I was able to guess 2 of 3 shockers from the ending…sorry, I seem to have an uncanny knack for that kinda thing. But here was one predication I had that was totally off, so that made up for it! Guess anyone who reads this can see there is quite a bit of mystery and suspense in this one.

Just like you, I don’t often read mysteries, but this one sounds really intriguing! I’m going to check it out. As the days get shorter and evenings longer, it’s a good time for a nice mystery book :) Thanks for the tip!
