Since we are all on a strict budget now that the holidays have come and gone, how about two inexpensive and free short stories by bestselling authors?
A Walk In the Park by Jane Green
Jane Green is one of my favorite authors. I recommended her book Another Piece of My Heart last May- here and Promises to Keep here.

A Walk in the Park is Green’s short story/book that recently came out. It is FREE on Kindle and well worth the read. I will not spoil the story but will say it takes a turn I totally did not expect!
From the publisher,” Just when Amy Adamson thinks her life can’t get any worse…Six months ago, Amy Adamson felt like she had it all, until overnight, everything changed. Everyone said Eric was bad news, but surely he would change for her… wouldn’t he? His constant partyin, her fear of losing him if she didn’t keep up, led to her losing her job, he apartment, and now, it seems, her whole life. A surprise visit to the apartment to collect her things finds Eric in bed with her roommate. Who’s also stolen her Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser. Bitch.”
Quotes from the Story
A few quotes I enjoyed;
“So maybe it was my mistake, thinking late-night booty calls meant he was my boyfriend”
“I crawled back to my lilac bedroom, where I tried to pick the Tinkerbell decal off the wall, succeeding only in her right leg, which deformity only made me feel worse.”
Beginning Again by Sarah Pekkanen
Sarah Pekkanen is another favorite. I recommended her These Girls last May- here. Sarah wrote a fabulous guestpost for us here. And we loved Skipping a Beat here. Her short story, Beginning Again, is only $.99 on Amazon.

From the publisher, “Things have always gone perfectly for Corrine Brown—until now. She’s separated from her husband of less than three years, and going solo to her baby sister’s wedding in Minnesota. As happy as she is for Ilsa, the weekend is long and lonely, and she’s eager to get back to her life in LA…until she realizes that her life, as she’s known it, is over. Forced to reinvent herself just when she thought was finally settled, Corrine soon learns that sometimes, the most rewarding adventures are the ones that we least expect.”
Quote from the Story
“Ex-girlfriends could be as dangerous at weddings as intoxicated uncles on the dance floor..”
What are you reading and where are you going?

Thank you for the suggestions, I just finished a book on Tuesday night so I’ve been on the hunt for some cheap reading, since I’m working overnight shifts I’ve been going broke buying books.
