Happy President’s Day: The Laws I Would Pass

February 18, 2013 | by Andrea Katz | Great Thoughts | 7 Comments

Happy President’s Day!  My friend Jessica at Look Who Found the Marbles is hosting a blog prompt for today: What Laws Would You Pass If You Were President?

If I were president these are the laws I would pass.

The Laws I Would Pass

-Maggie Smith should be given immediate American citizenship and become the Secretary of Wit.

-Chummy from Call the Midwife should be Secretary of Health and Human Services.

-No one should speak before Mom has 2 cups of coffee and has read at least one newspaper.

-Everyone should read at least one newspaper daily.  (If you live in this world, you should know what goes on in this world.)

-Everyone should read at least one book a week.

-Everyone should get a massage once a week.  (Imagine a country of more relaxed people!)

-The government should mandate respect.  (If you don’t like others’ politics, politely say nothing or politely disagree.  Name calling and vitriol didn’t work on the playground as kids and doesn’t work now.)

-Mothers should not have to cook past Thursday of each week.

-Everyone should be required to watch Downton Abbey, Homeland, Scandal and The Millionaire Matchmaker.  Because they should have already been doing so!

-Mothers should not be allowed to brag about their wonder children, other than to their own mother.

-Kids under age 15 should not be allowed on Instagram and Facebook.   (Sick of reading about cyber bullying?  Take the cyber away from kids who are too young to be there.)

-No one should question whether your child really has a food allergy.

-The creator of a fabulous recipe on Pinterest should deliver the cooked recipe to your home within a week of pinning.

-And the best new law the government should pass?  A government mandated 2 week beach vacation for every citizen.

Now wouldn’t our country run a bit better? What laws would you pass?

What are you reading and where are you going?

I had so much fun reading, I had to join the link up! I love your laws, especially the removal of cyber bullying law. I might make it age 16. And everyone should read a newspaper a day and a book a week. Or at least a partial book.

Love the list. Mandating respect sounds totally reasonable to me.

I’m all over the once a week massage. I know I’d be more relaxed.

Such smart laws. I especially like the respect, massage and vacation laws. BTW, I love Downton Abbey.
