Two Contemporary Romance Novels

February 27, 2013 | by Andrea Katz | Great Thoughts | 3 Comments

In the dark days of winter, we need escapism, right?  These two contemporary romance novels will help!

Edge of Disaster by A.M. Hargrove

Another great romance novel! This book has some steamy scenes! Edge of Disaster takes place in Georgia. A.M. Hargrove writes her characters with great Georgia charm. She does it so well I can even hear them talking with that specific southern drawl!

We take the journey with Alexia whose life seems to be sinking away and finding herself in crazy situations. Once she has decided to change her ways, she meets dreamy Dr. Pearce Middleton.

“I lifted my eyes and they landed on sizzling smoky gray, bedroom orbs that were heavily fringed with onyx lashes, my gaze drifted south to a mouth defined by full sensuous lips. “

As Alexia finds her life moving forward, she knows her past is always lurking around the corner. Can Alexia and Pearce figure out how to overcome her past together?

“Alexia, I’d open the world just for you.”

“Regret? The only thing I’d regret is not holding you next to me and feeling your heart beat.”

One of the new trends with Authors is adding a playlist for the book.  The playlist for Edge of Disaster is here.

Wanted by Kelly Elliott

When I say I love cowboys…. OH YA! This book has some good ole boys from a small town outside of Austin. I think my favorite part of this book is how long the book is. Kelly starts us off introducing Ellie, her brother Jefferson, her best friend Ari, and the main cowboy… Gunner.

“I looked up and saw the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. My eyes traveled up and down his body quickly, but this guy standing in front of me was breathtaking, I couldn’t take my eyes away from him.”

Gunner, and all his Texas charm, and Ellie, wanting nothing more than to be a country girl, soon find themselves having feelings for each other that they have never felt before. The only thing standing in their way is the voice of Ellie’s mother in her head.

“Do you know that you will never be wanted? No one will ever love you, just like I have never been loved. No man will ever really want you. You need to know that now….”

Gunner and Jeff finish college, and set their sights on running the Ranch. With Ellie and Ari in tow, we learn that their dreams are all similar and what good ole Texas boys they are.

But wait, there is more! Throughout the book we find ourselves asking what is going on with Jeff and Ari? That’s when Kelly Elliott throws in a whopper of a surprise and we find ourselves waiting for book 2. Saved is due out around March 2013.

“The moment I saw Ellie sitting there… my only thought was to get to her. When I touched her and saw her almost immediately relax, I thought I was going to burst with happiness. Knowing I was the one she needed, not Jeff or Ari or Grams, it was me who she needed.”

I’m reading Wanted right now. While I like the general idea of the book the writing is bad. One thing that bugs me, is how many times it says ‘he throws his head back and laughs’ who does that. Who is every day conversation tosses their head back laughing? I just don’t picture it!

I started reading it because I follow the muse for Gunner on Facebook. Real hottie. Nice to put a face with Gunner.
