Is there anything better than a Sophie Kinsella book? NO! I love, love, love the Shopaholic series and have been known to re-read them when I need a laugh.
Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella came out yesterday. RUSH to read it! From the publisher,
“Lottie just knows that her boyfriend is going to propose during lunch at one of London’s fanciest restaurants. But when his big question involves a trip abroad, not a trip down the aisle, she’s completely crushed. So when Ben, an old flame, calls her out of the blue and reminds Lottie of their pact to get married if they were both still single at thirty, she jumps at the chance. No formal dates—just a quick march to the altar and a honeymoon on Ikonos, the sun-drenched Greek island where they first met years ago.”
I cannot share all of my favorite quotes as there are simply too many. I really would love a girls’ night out with Sophie Kinsella and she would definitely be a guest at my fantasy dinner party.
My favorite quotes from Wedding Night:
“…the word ‘marriage’ is like an enzyme. It causes all kinds of reactions in a relationship, mostly of the breaking-down kind.”
“Fliss, my big sister, says I think in Hollywood technicoour and I have to remember that other people can’t hear the swooping violins.”
“Men are like jungle creatures. The minute they’ve found their kill they eat it and fall asleep.”
And my personal favorite…. “The first thing to say is that I look fabulous. The second thing is, I am not going to sleep with him.”
While there is no equal to Sophie Kinsella, I am very enamored with Carmen Reid’s books as well as they “feel” like Kinsella’s work. Here is a synopsis of Carmen Reid’s books.
Random House provided a review copy of Wedding Night. All gushing opinions are my own.
