Word on the Street 4/18/17
Given that we all have to pay taxes today and that is depressing, I thought I’d post my Word on the Street early this week with a GIVEAWAY to brighten our spirits!
- My newest obsession is The Arrangement by Sarah Dunn. What a book! Her writing is bright, sharp and witty. I LOVE this book and now have all readers close to me absorbed in it.
- I love Tuesdays this time of year because SO many great books come out. On April 25th, a plethora of great books will be published including…
All the Rivers by Dorit Rabinyan.
Anything is Possible by Elizabeth Strout,
Beartown by Frederik Backman
The Forever Summer by Jamie Brenner
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah in paperback
One Good Thing by Wendy Wax,
Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Harvey,
The Saturday Evening Girls Club by Jane Healey and
Startup by Doree Shafrir, just to name a few.
- Shari Lapena, author of The Couple Next Door and The Stranger in the House (publishing in August) has two more books coming in 2018 and 2019. Wow!
The Forever Summer – Giveaway
Anyone who follows this site or Great Thoughts’ Great Readers on Facebook knows that I am and always will be a Summer person. Nothing makes me happier than when the great Summer reads start coming out. One of the best books of Summer 2017 comes out on 4/25, The Forever Summer by Jamie Brenner. I love it so much that it is also the April Book of the Month here at Great Thoughts.
I am a big fan of Brenner’s prior works and am thrilled to see her join the ranks of the Summer greats such as Jane Green, Adriana Trigiani, Karen White and Elin Hilderbrand. Make room on your calendar going forward as Jamie Brenner will deliver a new wonderful book annually for Summer! Isn’t the cover simply perfect? I totally need that beach and that hat.
From the publisher, ” The discovery of long-buried secrets brings three generations of women together to Cape Cod for the summer homecoming of a lifetime.
Marin Bishop has always played by the rules, and it’s paid off: on the cusp of thirty she has a handsome fiancé, a prestigious Manhattan legal career, and her father’s hard-won admiration. But with one careless mistake at work, Marin suddenly finds herself unemployed and alone. Before she can summon the courage to tell her parents, a young woman appears, claiming to be Marin’s half-sister. Seeking answers, Marin agrees to join her on a soul-searching journey to Cape Cod, to meet the family she didn’t even know she had.
As the summer unfolds at her grandmother’s beachside B&B, it becomes clear that her half-sister’s existence is just the first in a series of truths that will shake Marin’s beliefs–in love, and in her own identity–to the core. Filled with shocking revelations, heartfelt romance, and resilient women banding together against the most unexpected twists of fate, THE FOREVER SUMMER is an emotionally resonant page-turner, and a delicious escape for any season.”
