If you are in news overload (and aren’t we all), you need to decompress. Here are some Books and Binges to take you away:
The Good Fight on CBS All Access. This is the sequel to The Good Wife. While super-hot Will of blessed memory is not in it nor is the amazing Kalinda Sharma and her fabulous boots, the cast is superb as is the storyline.
Christine Baranski is, as always, wonderful! Here is the trailer:
Wentworth– Five Seasons of Fabulous on Netflix
If you like Orange is the New Black, you will LOVE Wentworth. It is the story of a women’s prison in Australia and now has five seasons of twists, turns and outstanding writing.
Books to Read to Avoid Current Affairs
Thanks to author Hazel Gaynor, I recently read this article from The Guardian on Up Lit. I love that it cites a trend of books that show kindness.
We clearly have seen plenty of psych thrillers this year, some of which are downright creepy. Our present news cycle is also downright creepy. In light of this, here are my suggestions of books that are happy, end on a happy note or have a happy message. (Cue Keith Partridge here singing, “Come on Get Happy.”)
Mrs. Saint and the Defectives by Julie Lawson Timmer
Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Kiss Carlo by Adriana Trigiani
Same Beach Next Year by Dorothea Benton Frank
