Don’t you love it when you have a good reading week! I finished The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams– it was SO captivating! I loved that the ending was not exactly tied in a bow. While I like a happy ending as much as the next gal, I also appreciate reality. This is a scary look into a teenager’s life in a polygamist compound.
Then, I dove into Brooklyn, A Novel by Colm Toibin. It is the story of a poor Irish girl who moves to Brooklyn at the behest of an Irish priest. She builds a life in Brooklyn but then a family event in Ireland changes her direction. I won’t say more as I don’t want to spoil it but this is a nice easy read. Enjoy!
Just today, two of my fellow read-a-holics gave me these book suggestions:
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The Wilde Women by Paula Wall.
I have downloaded samples of both to my dear Kindle. Do you have a Kindle/Nook/e-reader? I can’t say enough good things about my Kindle- I like it more than I like some people. It lives in my purse so I can stop, drop and read anywhere. My favorite feature is “Download a Sample.” You can download the first chapter free. This has caused me to sample books I might not otherwise had read. Thanks Amazon! (Actually, Amazon should write me a thank you note as I have a serious Kindle book addiction.)
Have a great day and let me know what you are reading!
What are you reading and where are you going?
