Live a Little and Go on a Girls’ Trip

March 26, 2012 | by Andrea Katz | Great Thoughts | 10 Comments

“It’s Live a Little Monday – and time for weekly dose of happy living.”  Quoting the words of one of my favorite e-friends, Katja of Skimbaco Lifestyle.   What have you done lately as your dose of happy living?

I can easily answer this question as I just returned from a whirlwind 2-day trip to Miami’s South Beach with a BFF.   Now this particular BFF had the audacity to move out of state last year.  Fortunately, we speak just as much or more since she moved.  Miami is equi-distant for us so to South Beach we went, with no hubbies, kids or daily responsibilities.  (Already decided that cell phones will NOT be going on our next trip with us.  Too many emails about kid activities!)

Live a Little Monday!

The hotel greeted us with this Welcome Drink.  We felt very welcome!

We spent most of our time here:

Living a Little- South Beach

We spent some time window shopping:

Window Shopping on South Beach- who wears this??

Finally, I think we felt like our favorite gals in Sex and the City 2 when they got up to sing-

This way too brief 2-day getaway was just what we needed.  I strongly encourage you to do the same!

What are you reading and where are you going?

Oh I haven’t been on a girl trip for almost 5 years. I think I am overdue. Nothing better than getting away and really feeling like yourself instead of a mom, wife, volunteer and worker bee. Thinking pf places now…

Girls’ trips these days seem like a foreign country. I too have not done one in years – but I do host girls’ weekends – my friends and sisters come to me when I am an empty nester – husband and boys go hunting or fishing – and I love it! Next best thing to a “real” trip!

Ah but Steph- you really should grab a BFF (maybe one with a book review website?) and go on a girls’ trip!

Great for you! I need to plan one. We just got home from spring break it was fun and with family. Sometimes, just changing the scenery really helps refresh your spirit and mind.

We left Colorado several years ago. Now good friend from there and I leave husbands at home, (Colorado and Florida) and meet around the country for our special getaway time. This year we both will celebrate a momentous birthday (70!!!). We are planning a great getaway. Still don’t know where. We have decided that in addition to our indulging ourselves, we want to give back to the world/earth/planet. Not for the entire week, mind you, but for a day or so we would like to do something of historical, ecological, or educational value for the world. Any suggestions? Would love to hear from as many as possible. Please do email our secondary email used for this purpose, jfaye21@gmail.com. We can stay in US or go abroad.
    Thanks,
