Here is what we have in store for you next week! The dears at Doubleday will offer 5 books per day to lucky readers. All you have to do is comment daily to be entered to win. (U.S. entries only- giveaway terms are here.)
April 16th- The new book by one of my very favorite authors, More Than You Know by Penny Vincenzi. Vincenzi is the maestro of the British family saga. In More Than You Know, it all comes down to love or money in a custody battle over a little girl, set against the glossy backdrop of the magazine and advertising worlds in 1960s London. I have read all of her books and this is, by far, the best to date!
April 17th– A wonderful new novel set in pre-Civil War South, The Healing by Jonathan Odell. Plantation mistress Amanda Satterfield’s intense grief over losing her daughter causes her to take a newborn slave child as her own. Her husband purchases a slave woman known as a healer. This is a very powerful and well-written novel. I look forward to future books from Odell!
April 18th- Yes, you saw that right- we are lucky enough to be giving away 5 copies of the almighty John Grisham’s new book Calico Joe. I read this book in one sitting. It is a can’t put down, amazing book. You fall in love with Joe Castle immediately! Like all Grisham novels, it builds to a crescendo but this book offers a little crescendo at the end too. Loved, loved , loved it! Can’t wait for you all to read it!
April 19th- A delightful book, May the Road Rise Up to Meet You by Peter Troy. This is my favorite kind of book- a long engrossing epic set across a long time period, coupled with an immigrant story. Troy weaves together parallel stories- a tale of slavery in the Civil War era and the saga of Irish immigrants. Troy’s writing is lyrical and haunting. A Spring must read!
April 20th- We will end our Spring Fling week giving away a wonderful new novel, The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott. The book starts as a young seamstress talks her way into employment by an American designer who hires her and takes her aboard The Titanic. This quote from the publisher sums up this great read- “The Dressmaker is an atmospheric delight filled with all the period’s glitz and glamour, all the raw feelings of a national tragedy and all the contradictory emotions of young love.”
Each day next week, we will review the book of the day and on a few days, you will be treated to guest posts from some of these amazing authors.
So go mark your calendars and plan to visit here every single day next week (like you always do, right?) to win amazing books!
Doubleday provided review copies of these books. Doubleday will send the books directly to the book winners. Giveaway terms are here. All opinions are my own.
