Spring Fling- The Dressmaker Book Giveaway

April 20, 2012 | by Andrea Katz | Great Thoughts | 30 Comments

It’s Friday, the final day of our Spring Fling.  What a fun week we are having!    We will end our fabulous week by  giving away 5 copies of The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott.

Book Giveaway

Doubleday will giveaway 5 copies of The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott.  Just leave a comment here to be entered to win one of five copies (U.S. entries only please. Giveaway terms are here.) Enter by midnight on April 22nd! This would be a great Mother’s Day gift!

The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott

This book is a Titanic story.  It is the tale of a young British seamstress, Tess,  who talks her way into a job with a famous American designer, Lady Lucile who takes her on The Titanic to go to New York.  They miraculously survive the ship’s sinking but Lady Lucile causes much drame aboard the ship.  Once in New York, Tess is unfortunately brought into the media frenzy surrounding Lady Lucile.

There are not one but two suitors for Tess.  This is a wonderful historical novel that is very timely as April 15th is the anniversary of The Titanic’s sinking.

A few of my favorite quotes:

“Just like that other upstart, the one they all Chanel.”

“Then a sudden silence; they had stopped.”

“Stripped of their grand clothes, they looked quite ordinary.”

Just leave a comment here for a chance to win one of 5 copies.

Doubleday provided a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own. Doubleday will send the books directly to the winners. Giveaway terms are here.

What are you reading and where are you going?
