Hope everyone is doing well. I’m back from my break and wanted to share my new favorite book that is coming out on September 4th.
Hemingway’s Girl by Erika Robuck
Hemingway’s Girl reads like the finest of literature with a tad of romance, intrigue, grief and love thrown in. I devoured it quickly and know you will too. Robuck does a masterful job of creating the Ernest Hemingway character -and what a character! Mariella, the young female protagonist, also has masterful character development- you literally feel what she is feeling.
From the Publisher
Favorite quotes from the book:
“She had only stopped to make it a moment she wouldn’t forget, framed by the passage of the sun.”
“… Mariella felt as if there were signs all around her that losing what you loved was worse than never having it to begin with.”
“Their poverty was merely simplicity, and living simply was good.”
On the topic of war, “Your mind is blank. Purely fixed on a target. No emotion. No fear. Until your guys- your close buddies-go down. Then your mind turns on and you can’t think of the target, only of getting them out of there. Only of helping preserve them so you can get to that sunny place and start your business together, and raise your kids together, and tell your war stories.”
I suggest you read this one immediately and then let me know your thoughts.
