Great Thoughts’ Great Readers-Top Books

Great Thoughts’ Great Readers-Top Books

In December of 2014, I decided to pursue a goal and create a community of readers- a modern day book salon.   My intent was to have a place to discuss books and trade recommendations.  I envisioned a place where authors and readers were together and interacting.   And thus, Great Thoughts’ Great Readers (“GTGR”) was born in a private Facebook group.

Today, this book salon has over 1,400 members, primarily female readers and authors of fiction.  The interaction is nothing short of incredible.  We host a monthly book club where the author participates.  All of us, me included, have learned of and read books we never would have known about.  We have both hugely bestselling seasoned authors in the group as well as those aspiring.  We have top agents and publicists there as well.

In addition to my own Top Books of 2015 list, we polled the members of Great Thoughts’ Great Readers to tally the groups’ top books.

I am proud to present the first annual Great Thoughts’ Great Readers Top Books:

The Top Book chosen by the group was The Status of All Things by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. (*a GTGR book club selection)

The other top 4 are (in no order) The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, debut novel The Royal We by Jessica Morgan and Heather Cocks (The Fug Girls) (*A GTGR book club selection) and debut novel Come Away With Me by Karma Brown (*the next GTGR Book Club selection).

Great Thoughts’ Great Readers has a wonderful 2016 ahead with new books to read, new authors to meet, monthly book clubs and perhaps even a convention.  If you love to read and want to discuss books, please request membership here.

What are you reading and where are you going?

Is there a place that the book club books for 2016 are listed, so that I can prepare? And when are the book club “meetings?”
