The Great Thoughts’ Great Readers’ Ninja Review Team
In my years in book world, it has become exceedingly clear that this industry too is Darwinistic. It is clear to me at the start of each season exactly which books a publisher is pushing the hardest. Then, these books get Kirkus, Booklist, Library Journal and Publisher’s Weekly reviews. Then, surprise surprise, those books are the ones in magazines, Target, airport bookstores and most prominent book lists. Literally, you see the same 5-10 books per season in The New York Times, People Magazine etc. etc. etc.
But what about ALL of the other books?
I created my own book review team for this reason. Some amazing books were not selling well or were getting ignored simply because they do not get the publisher support that the chosen books receive. The Great Thoughts’ Great Readers’ Ninjas review mostly fiction books from all of the major publishers including Hachette, Lake Union, Putnam, Graydon House, Berkeley, Atria, Kensington and St. Martins, just to name a few. These stealth reviewers are reading zealots who read with lightning speed and post reviews to Goodreads as soon as they do. Then, on publication day, we remind the Ninjas to post reviews on Amazon. In the case of one book recently, Ninjas posted 33 reviews on publication day. The Ninjas are now working on books that release from January 2018 through June 2018.
